Job hunting isn’t easy and when you don’t get any response from your job applications, things can get quite discouraging. The following are a few steps you can follow to improve your chances:

Step One:

Take another look at your CV – We have countless resources to help you structure your CV in the correct way and tips & tricks on the length of it. Short and sweet is always key, shorter and to the point, the better. Avoid any irrelevant rambling that could be taken up as a waste of time by the viewer – always imagine they have almost no time to read your CV and take it from there. Also be sure your contact information is correct.

Step Two:

Be pro-active – Nothing will just fall in your lap when it comes to job hunting, you need to work for it. Be prepared to fight for your dream job so you can reap the benefits at a later stage. Networking is a very important part of this, use platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc. to get the word out about your position.

Step Three:

Work on your skills – Never stop learning and improving yourself. Be the one who is always doing courses (if you are able to do so) and doing side jobs to improve your skills helping you land that dream job. They will help you to be better at it and it will also look great on your CV. Make sure these side jobs and courses relate directly to the job you are wanting.

Step Four:

Find good references – Be sure to have at least 2, preferably 3 good references for employees or recruiters to contact if they would like to. It is important to take the time to nurture any business relationships you have and avoid ever leaving a job on a bad note – you will need their good word when applying for a new job.
