Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

To partner with HR colleagues and key stakeholders to deliver a HR service in line with the needs and priorities of the business

To implement and deliver key HR initiatives.

Translate business requirements into effective HR practices and deliver people solutions aligned to business objectives

Work at an operational level with multiple stakeholders e.g. Employees, trade unions, Supervisors etc.

Manage compilation and placement of adverts for recruitment Shortlist suitable candidates and compile candidates report Interview applicants, from shop floor to HOD positions

Make formal offer of employment

Coordinate the sign off process (medical, employee data, payroll information etc.)

Develop strong relationships with the relevant SETAs to support the company’s plan in relation to apprentices

Conduct skills depth analysis

Facilitate a graduate development program

Manage the talent pool process to identify candidates ready for appointment to strategic positions

Develop strategies to retain critical skills and reduction of labour turnover

Head hunting for critical positions

Manage monthly and adhoc Shop Stewards meetings and ensure speedy resolution of issues raised

Ensure that all employee matters are handled with consistency and fairness without discrimination

Communicate clearly and regularly with shop stewards and staff on relevant employee matters

Negotiating day to day practices that result in creating harmonious working environment Attend day to day queries from employees

Respond to and resolve all types of charges and grievances

Work with labour law attorneys and industry advisors on relevant cases

Craft strategies for resolving staff issues

Seek strategies for minimising the adverse staff impact of any proposed job/dept/company changes or restructures, including the impact of incapacity applications

Represent the company at Conciliation and Arbitration (Con-Arb) at CCMA /DRC

To promote the use of HR systems, policies and processes, challenging appropriately as necessary

Manage exit processes for staff, carrying out exit interviews and make sure that the exit clearance form is fully completed

Make sure that all employee records are kept safely as per the requirements

Present the HR reports for Monthly HOD meeting and quarterly board meetings.

Maintain confidentiality of information and sensitivity to all issues Regular update to managers on labour law developments.

Ensuring that there is harmonious relationship between employees and managers

Work with the Finance Manager in doing budgets for HR needs

Manage the human resources expenses and ensure that the budget is not exceeded

Manage the training development expenses and ensure that the plant operate within budget

Approve all human resources, clinic, training and development expenses

Monitor leave provisions and send notices to managers should employees exceed maximum number of leave they should accrue or if they are breaching or likely to breach the company leave policy.

Ensure the company leave policy is adhered to at all times.
